Fincas Mierisch comprises 9 coffee farms in Nicaragua and 3 in Honduras. In Nicaragua the farms are located in the Matagalpa and Jinotega departments. Matagalpa is home to 6 farms, whereas Jinotega, a little bit farther north west is home to 3 farms. Each farm has its own unique micro climate and soil composition, which makes each ones management, and coffee quality, truly distinct from one another. Since 1908, this has been a family run collection of farms. Currently, it is run by 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation coffee producers.
This coffee is from a farm called Limoncillo which is 119 hectares in the Yasica Sur community. This farm grows a wide variety of coffees, including Javanica, Red and Yellow Pacamara, Ethiosar, Red Catuai, and Red Bourbon.
When we first decided to move into roasting coffee, this is one of the coffee farms I knew I wanted to source coffee from. I had heard of how excellent the coffee was early on and had to have it. I reached out on day one and talked with them and the more I learned about Fincas Mierisch the more excited I was to bring this coffee in.
