La Joya” translates to “The Jewel” in Spanish, and that is exactly what this coffee represents. David Solano is a coffee producer and mechanical engineer who, after winning three back-to-back national barista competitions, devoted himself to the cultivation of specialty coffee in his family’s 150 year old farm in Chimaltenango.
Finca La Joya has been in the family for four generations, with coffee plants more than 125 years old. David’s brother, Eddy, who has an engineering degree in science administration, specializes in logistics and exporting for the farm while also managing the books.
Through the range of tastes in the David Solano coffee, you can feel the experimental nature as you move from refreshing notes of cola to that of balanced, recognizable chocolate and caramel, and finally landing on an earthy pecan. This coffee has become a hit with customers in our cafe and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
